Warre's launch of Otima Old Tawny caused a revolution in Port that introduced a completely new concept, rejuvenating Port's appeal to younger enthusiasts. Otima is now widely acknowledged as the most successful new development in the Port trade for over 25 years. Otima is is a non vintage ten year old Tawny Port with light delicate palate, contemporarily fashioned in an attractive modern bottle.

The merit of Otima was to show Port's versatility as an all year round, anytime drink, appealing to both women and men, dispelling many of the myths attached to Tawny Old Port. A blend of traditional Portuguese varietals from the Douro Valley, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. Fruit is vinified at 24�C to 28�C by the action of natural yeasts. Once the must has achieved desired degree of sweetness, usually within forty eight hours, the wine is fortified by the addition of a 77% grape brandy, a balance of 80% must and 20% brandy.
